Erica Canepa is an Italian photographer with an MA in Photojournalism at Westminster University (London) and a BA in Restoration at Istituto Veneto per i Beni Culturali (Venice). She is interested in the aftermath of events, social issues as well as different cultures. Photography is for her a form to express different points of view, to explore differences through camera lenses to go behind the surfaces. It is her way of investigation, it is her curious eyes scrutinising the world. She currently resides between Buenos Aires, London and La Spezia (Italy). The project The Remaining intends to show what remains in the Argentinean society thirty-five years after the last military regime.

The military dictatorship began with the idea of culturally changing Argentinian people. It has been a progressive change towards a more individualist, selfish and insensitive  society that reached its apogee during the Nineties, but where the basis was brutally planted during the dictatorship era. What you see outside the window is what’s remaining, what we are left with. It is today’s Argentina, that shows the indelible marks of genocide, but in which I can still see the ideals that we fought for.
