Gabriele Galimberti, born in 1977 in Val di Chiana (Tuscany), committed to documentary photography after starting out as a commercial photographer, and after joining the art collective Riverboom. He has spent the last few years working on long-term documentary photography projects around the world, some of which have become books, such as Toy Stories (Abrams Books 2014), In Her Kitchen (Random House 2014) and Couchsurfing (Random House 2015). He is currently travelling around the globe, working on both solo and shared projects, as well as on assignments for international magazines and newspapers such as Fortune, The Sunday Times, Stern, Geo, Le Monde, La Repubblica and Marie Claire. His works have been exhibited in shows worldwide, such as the Festival Images in Vevey, Switzerland; they have won the Fotoleggendo Festival Award in Rome and the Best In Show Prize at the New York Photography Festival.

Girl’s Bedrooms: Mirrors and Windows - Riverboom’s Gabriele Galimberti and Edoardo Delille are travelling the five continents to see where girls between the ages of 18 and 30 sleep. They have discovered that girls’ bedrooms are much more then just places where they lay down their heads – they are the places where girls read, love, dream, work and play. The selection of the subjects photographed is not based on their looks or on the décor of their rooms, but on a desire to show how diverse these can be, as well as on the strength of the story behind them. These bedrooms are the mirrors of the history, personality, culture, obsessions and social status of the girls that occupy them, but are also unique windows into these young women’s worlds.
