Marco Rizzo was born in Venice in 1983. Graduated
in Scenography at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Venice, he devoted himself to
photography and videomaking. Since his debut in 2007 with the experimental
documentary Nero pece, winner of
several awards, he has realized over 20 short films and documentaries for art
institutions and fashion houses. His photos have been exhibited in various
collective and solo exhibitions, and also published in the volume Colors of Venice.
“In
the last period I look at my city with different eyes. I am looking for places
to submerge”, says the Venetian photographer presenting his series of images Underwater City. “I don’t like reality, so often I dive in my dreams and swim in a
liquid world. Then I wake up and come back to reality, and in the mirror I find
that my eyes are red of chlorine. Dream or reality? The remains of my dreams
are these pictures, an opaque and watered down memory of that magical world.”
