Cecelia Webber is a New
Hampshire-born artist working primarily in digital photography art and acrylic
painting. She graduated in 2008 from the University of Southern California. In
2010, her Flowers
Series opened on exhibition at the Renown Institute for
Cancer in Reno, Nevada. In 2011, she premiered her Butterflies Series at
Barneys New York in New York City. And in 2012, she was the guest of honor and
debuted her Birds Series at the Natural History Museum of Verona, Italy
for the science and art festival Infinitamente. Her artwork has been
exhibited and sold at a number of fine art galleries and design showcases in
the USA. She works to make people aware of their link to nature and to inspire
a sense of responsibility to make environmentally friendly choices.
Additionally, she hopes to help people realize a positive self-image of their
bodies and to have the ability to look at nudity and nakedness as comforting,
vulnerable, and beautiful.
The artist says: “I began creating my compositions
after noticing that a photo I had taken of my back looked like a petal. From
there, I became fascinated by the practice of trying to create organic imagery
with greater and greater accuracy.” The digital photographic images of
flowers and plants shown here often require up to 700 layered variations which
are then coloured to achieve her desired design. The results serve to
illustrate how intertwined natural forms can be and culminate in singular
images of particular beauty.
